After everything blew up on Christmas, Liz walked away from me, and I let her. She said she needed space and a chance to pursue her dreams. But we both knew she was running from the mess she made. Now the political campaign she used as an excuse to leave is bringing us back together and I’m proving to her what she really needs—not just the hot nights, greedy hands, and undeniable physical chemistry. What she really needs is something real. What she really needs…is me.
**SPOILERISH for BOOK #1!!**
I have seen many, many times on Facebook authors bemoaning the fact they have to write a damn synopsis. How do you sum up an entire book in one or two paragraphs? How do you entice the reader without giving too much away? I am here to tell you, the synopsis for Something Real comes nowhere even close to conveying how unbelievably good this read really is. Oh, the synopsis entices you and certainly doesn’t give away too much but it also doesn’t tell you nearly enough about the awesomeness that lies within . . . .
Christmas with the family is hard enough to deal with but add a huge –no, GINORMOUS – secret reveal and suddenly a mildly unpleasant gathering becomes the stuff of nightmares. Quite embarrassingly and totally destructively, everyone finds out that Liz, Sam’s girlfriend has been in a longish-term online relationship with his father. Turns out, RiverRat truly is a rat and a slimey bastard, his wife is a fool for staying with him and continuing to put up with his antics and, Sam can no longer stand the sight of either his father or Liz. Needless to say, Christmas sucked ass and in an effort to escape the scandal that is now rocking her small town of New Hope, Liz has fled to work on Governor Guy’s presidential campaign. Liz is disgustingly miserable and with no hope for a future with Sam, she is virtually wasting away. To make matters far, far worse, news has now broken that Sam is attached to the Governor’s daughter, Sabrina and, if the pictures are to believed, their relationship is far from vanilla.
Back in New Hope . . . .
Sam Bradshaw is one sorry son of a bitch!! He is angry, sad, angry, depressed, angry and, up to his ass in trouble that he can’t seem to get out of. The pictures of he and Sabrina are embarrassing but the truth of the photos would be mortifying. In an effort to save everyone’s reputation, Sam has agreed to pose with Sabrina as a happy couple until the Governor is in the White House. As events continue to unfold, Sam gets in deeper and deeper and before he knows it, he and Sabrina are “engaged” and more than half way to the altar. As Liz is watching all of this unfold in the media, Sam is desperate to get to her and make her understand the truth of the situation. Being seen together would blow apart so may lies, kill the public’s perception of the Governor and her family and, harm a great many innocent people. But the heart wants what the heart wants and so, in a series of clandestine meetings, Sam and Liz reunite to discuss, argue and, have a lot of make-up sex. The sex is dirty good but the lies, constant misdirection and, time apart is hard to take and before long things start to go all kinds of sideways for Sam and Liz, again. A happily ever after has never been so far away and if something doesn’t give and give soon, Liz and Sam will be torn apart for good.
The Bottom Line: Sam and Liz’s story has been rocky and roller coastery from the beginning. They are so good together when they are together but there is so much history and so many forces in play that it is nearly impossible for them to be together. In this crazy conclusion, all of the forces finally come into play at the same time, old wounds are re-opened and in some cases healed and, one serious case of bat-shit crazy is exposed. Both Sam and Liz are caught up in something neither could have ever conceived of and if the plan were to come to fruition, a large number of crimes will have been committed and damn-near everyone involved would, in some way be a victim. Ryan throws everything possible at Sam and Liz and leaves nothing undone!! Every question is answered, every lie uncovered, every indiscretion exposed and, some smokin’ hot sex occurs. This is yet another book I blazed through and highly recommend it to fans of Lexi Ryan, fans of light mystery, fans of high drama and, HEAs.
He talks dirty to me, but I don’t know his name.
He wants to tie me up, but I don’t know his face.
He turns me on, but I couldn’t point him out in a crowd.
I’ve fallen for an anonymous stranger, and now the anonymity ends. I want more than typed secrets and texted promises. I want something reckless. Heat. Passion. The thrill of being entirely possessed. Because I suspect this anonymous stranger isn’t a stranger at all.
