I couldn’t have picked two men more opposing than they. One dark-headed, slightly controlling, but intuitive. The other all unruly copper curls, somewhat bashful, but sensual. Yet, my fall for them felt the same—hard and fast.  I never slept around or cheated, but when you’re the girl who got dumped for being too kinky–you realize and accept you are different. Somehow, some way, they had to be mine. My mind spun with what could be, and I set out to entice them with my fantasy.  Only, my plot had a twist…Royce and Shea were already lovers. Luckily for me, they liked to share.

Warning: Contains a headstrong daughter of nudist, hippy parents, an Alpha with seriously protective instincts, positive representations of Asperger’s Syndrome and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and oh yeah, M/M, M/M/M, M/M/F, and M/F/M.

My Review:

Well hello, Grey Cole and welcome to you and all your naughty little bits to my world. Any Way We Want is an interesting, stimulating and frustratingly short read that had me hooked from the very first page.

Royce Thornton is strong, extremely intelligent, confident and, determined. Nearly every aspect of his life has always been clear – the one aspect that hasn’t always been clear, his sexual preferences. Until the moment he met Shae Shepherd and every aspect of his life became crystal clear. From the moment the two met as college roommates they knew their destinies were intertwined. Both are genius-level computer geeks with a sound business plan and a remarkably strong friendship that neither ever wants to jeopardize. When Royce realizes the extent of his feelings for Shae, he attempts to hide them until the moment comes when he can no longer ignore what he feels and what he wants.

Shae Shepherd has always been clear about his sexual preferences but until he met Royce, he never really felt accepted. Shae is just as smart as Royce but isn’t quite as confident and with Asperger’s Syndrome, he very much relies on Royce to help him navigate life. That is not to say Shae is in any way incapable, he just needs his life to be a certain way in order to be completely comfortable and Royce has always understood that and accommodated him. In a very raw and emotional moment, Shae realizes the extent of his feelings for Royce and when he discovers those feelings are reciprocated, the two embark on a beautiful and fulfilling life together.

As the years move forward, Shae and Royce build not only their life together but a business that is phenomenally successful. Though they are solid as a couple, each realizes that he can’t always be everything for the other and so, as with their business, they make adjustments to ensure success. For Shae and Royce those adjustments often mean adding a third party to their play but always with the understanding that nothing and no one comes between them. Until Luna, neither Royce nor Shae ever considered asking the third party to become something more than just an accessory.

Luna has spent her life never being truly satisfied. She’s beautiful, intelligent, very good at her job and, just a little kinkier than most men are comfortable with. On the few occasions Luna has opened up to a partner about her desires, it hasn’t gone well and so, she has learned to live with the knowledge that she may never be sexually satisfied. Meeting Royce and Shae changes everything for Luna on both a professional and personal level. She buys into their company and as a partner, she grows close to both men. Luna is both enormously respectful and jealous of the relationship between the two men. Luna can clearly see the love the two have for one another and uses that in her own personal fantasies. Then, one night she gets caught J From the beginning, Luna is so much more than an accessory and once all the details are ironed out, Luna becomes a true partner in Royce and Shae’s lives.

The Bottom Line: Any way We Want is one hell of a love story and I was hooked from the very beginning. Royce and Shae are such wonderful contrasts to one another and each perfectly complements the other. Royce is strong, confident, dominant and, caring while Shae is somewhat shy, a bit less confident, far less dominant but no less caring. Cole does an excellent job of creating two very real characters who come together to create something quite wonderful; a true partnership in every sense of the word. Just when you think Royce and Shae can’t get any better, Luna comes along and enhances just about everything. Make no mistake, Any Way We Want is more than just a love story, it is a steamy, hot read that you think is going be just a love story until the very last minute when everything the trio has built and worked for comes crashing down around them. This is where the read becomes incredibly frustrating!! Cole has the audacity to leave the reader wondering if Royce, Shae and Luna will ever be the same again. Damn you, Grey Cole!!! I need book two, NOW!!!

Excerpt from Any Way We Want (Book #1: Want Series):

Champagne always made her giggly and warm and tingly. Especially tingly. If she’d had a man, you better believe she would be fucked six ways from Sunday right about now. Instead, Luna found herself finishing off a few reports after saying goodnight to the guys. It had been a stellar day. Phase Two—by far the largest coup in their plan—had been firmly achieved. Royce had broken out the champagne, and Luna managed to consume copious amounts before promising the men she would call a cab when she was ready to head out for the night. They were reluctant to leave her behind, but their desire to do a little personal celebrating of their own was palpable. Far be it for her to stand in the way of the double dose of the pure male need and testosterone that engulfed the room.

Since she and Shea had become fast friends, he had divulged more than his share of their passionate tale to her over the last six months, even though she felt sure that he’d kept it toned down for her benefit. Still, she felt like she could read them. When she noticed little things, like the way Royce’s fingertips would curl possessively around Shea’s bicep at the end of even the briefest touch or when Shea’s eyes would suddenly shine brighter while Royce presented the most boring of facts and figures, Luna would glance to the others present in the room to see if they, too, were aware of exactly how sexual … how sensual … their bosses were. But, it seemed she alone picked up on these things. No raised eyebrows. No gossip around the water cooler.

That made her wonder if she was actually picking up on things, or if she was just perving on the gorgeous duo. Her subconscious picked that moment to send X-rated images flitting across her brain, involuntarily making her squeeze her crossed legs tighter. In an effort to halt her mind’s deviant trajectory, she grasped at the water bottle to her right, only to send it spinning across the desk until it toppled over the edge and skittered across the floor to come to a halt by the door.

Deciding she had probably done enough damage for the night, she saved all her documents and logged out of the computer before jotting herself a note. Sticking it to the computer, she laughed out loud at the message. You were drunk and horny last night, double check your files before sending. A little unsteady, she made her way to the abused water bottle, figuring she should refill it to stay hydrated. She’d call for a cab and head home to finish off the night with some Pinot and some porn. This time she actually giggled out loud. Pinot and porn. God, if only to have the third P present. Oh well, she thought, wiggling her fingers in front of her face, you’ll have to do.

She ended up tiptoeing down the hall, cringing at how dark and still it was when no one was around. Just when she seemed to become accustomed to the difference, she heard them. Moans and groans and curses and near shouts. Luna froze for a moment before understanding hit her with her blunt force. Where her body tingled before—now it sang. Where she’d been warm—she blazed. Her eyes flew to the partially closed door of Royce and Shea’s office, only daring to listen for a moment longer before she turned on her heel and darted back to her own office.

Her water bottle hit the floor with a clang as she slammed the door behind her. Wincing at the loud noise, she waited a moment to see if she would be discovered before rushing over to her desk. Only a security light from the hall cast a dull ray of light into her office. She eased herself into her chair and spun it so that she faced the windows. Luna’s face burned anew as she recalled the frantic words exchanged between Royce and Shea. Even her wicked imagination had not done them justice.

She could make out her own expression in the glass—pupils blown, hair disheveled, clothes askew. Taking a few calming breaths, Luna closed her eyes tightly, but as soon as she did, images of the two men locked in a passionate embrace flooded her brain.

Fuck me, Royce.

Take every inch of me. You like that don’t you? When I pull your hair, you nearly come undone.

Fuck yeah. Please, Royce.

Luna would do anything to have those words lavished upon her, to be able to say those very things to them. So, she pretended they included her. That she was the object of their desire and they were hers. The little app on her iPad filled with the gay porn blogs she’d become addicted to after meeting the men had nothing on the heat those two created within her. She couldn’t have stopped her hands if she’d tried. The things had a mind of their own when they bunched her loosely flowing skirt around her waist and dove into her panties. Her fingers circled her clit for a moment before dipping into the searing wetness. She fingered herself hard for a moment, even throwing her own hand over her mouth to muffle the obscene noises threatening to bubble from her throat.

When her clit throbbed with need, she pushed her thumb to it.

Repeated the pattern again and again.

When she felt herself on the verge of coming, Luna shoved both fingers in her vagina again.

Rotated them.

Spread them.

She liked it rough. Fuck, did she like it rough. She held her breath, knowing that would make her orgasm all the more intense. Her head slammed back against the chair. Her hips circled to ride her fingers to the finish.

Then her fingers were replaced by Royce’s. Fuck, but they were thick and demanding.

She needed Shea too. She pinched her lips together so that she could remove her hand. That hand flew down to squeeze one nipple. Hard. It was Shea thumbing the bud and then twisting so hard, asking if she liked that. Yes, Shea. Just like that, Luna moaned.

Royce told her to fuck his hand like she meant it, so she did. He needed to know she meant it. She cried out his name.

She bent and bucked and writhed. Then she came.

Harder than she’d ever come before.

Her men smiled at each other. Then at her. Then they kissed, almost chastely, counteracting the wild moment. They kissed her. She tasted them on each other. Royce pressed his fingers into her mouth, and Luna licked them clean before he removed them and sucked her tongue into his mouth.

Luna’s body seemed to melt into the chair. Time was suspended. Her breaths were shallow and hot. Once she opened her eyes, she knew they would disappear, taking their sweet kisses and their panty-combusting commands with them. She almost couldn’t bear it. Right now, their presence was so strong she could almost feel it.

With a deep sigh, she let her fingers fall from her mouth and her breast. Both hands dropped to the chair with a thud. She giggled again at how deeply sated she was.

Only, her giggle seemed to echo. But it was deeper. Richer. More masculine.

She was drunker than she thought.

Luna’s eyes fluttered open and closed. Open and closed. She finally fixed her stare on the glass where twin gazes of amusement shone back at her. One an intense blue. The other a mesmerizing hazel.

Too late to pretend embarrassment, Luna swallowed her nerves and met their eyes with her own.

“Luna, dear girl,” Royce tsked, “if only we’d known.”

Shea dipped his head and bit Royce’s shoulder. “God, if we’d known,” he groaned.

Luna chose to believe that the champagne made her bold when she brazened, “And if you’d known?”

“That’s simple, darling. We could have celebrated. The three of us. Together,” Royce declared.

Inside, she gasped, even though she hoped she remained steadfast in appearance. But you’re both gay. Why would you want me? Her naïveté won in the end when she whispered, “But how would that even work?”

Royce spun her chair around to face them as they sat perched on her desk. “Any way we want.”

My Review:

Welcome to the world of adult reads Darby Kaye aka the incomparable Darby Karchut! The Stag Lord is the first adult read by Kaye and is a welcome addition to the genre.

There is no slow burn with this read and almost instantly Kaye drops her characters into the middle of a crap-load of trouble. Bann and his young son Cor are on the run from danger and no matter how far or how fast they run, danger always seems to find them. Bann is a Tuatha De Danaan warrior, a descendant of the High King of Ireland and, a father hell-bent on protecting his own. In general, the Tuatha do protect their own but Bann and his line have been cursed by the god Cernunnos and nearly every Tuatha warrior Bann has known has refused to help him. Though the warriors are fierce and scared of very little, Cernunnos is a whole new level of crazy and no one, not even the generally fearless Tuatha want to draw neither his attention nor his ire. Angry, fearful and, dangerous, Bann has taken his son and runs in an effort to outrun Cernunnos, his wrath and, destiny. Thank goodness for Shay Doyle and common sense.

Though she certainly didn’t go looking for trouble, Shay Doyle finds it in the form of a young boy who has taken a nasty spill along her jogging trail. Instantly, Shay’s healer instincts kick in and she sets to work helping the young man. That is, until his father, Bann shows up and asks Shay to deny her heritage as a Tuatha and heal his son without revealing her true identity. Confused by Bann’s request but also unwilling to let the boy hurt, Shay takes the father and son back to her home and sets to work. Shay is no one’s fool and she knows who and what Bann is but she doesn’t understand his need to deny who and what he is. Moreover, she is completely confused by his need to deny his son access to the world of the Tuatha and knowledge about their shared history. Not willing to come between a father and his son, Shay heals them both and bides her time hoping the full story of Bannerman Boru will come out.

It doesn’t take long for the full story to come out nor does it take Shay long to call in the rest of her family. Though Bann is absolutely resistant to the idea of endangering Shay and her family and he also understands that there is strength in numbers and will do anything to protect his son. To be completely fair, Shay and her entire family are very hard to resist and they always make a very good case and have good liquor. Most among Shay’s clan know the legend of Bann and his line and those who don’t are quickly enlightened. All are willing to stand with Bann and Cor and fight against even the most feared of the gods, Cernunnos. With a battle looming staying with Shay is the most logical housing arrangement but neither he nor Shay are prepared for how intensely they will be drawn to one another.

To say the stakes are high doesn’t even get one into the realm of understatement. Cernunnos is a god and to defeat him it will take everything everyone has to give yet all involved are willing to make the sacrifice. As the moment of battle draws ever nearer, both Bann and Shay admit to their feelings for one another and succumb to their desires. While the sex is certainly good and there is no lack of adrenaline –filled days, both Shay and Bann know in an instant everything they have can and likely will be ripped from them. While this knowledge only serves to heighten their pleasure and desire it also keeps each from submitting fully to the other and accepting that fate may just have a wholly unexpected plan for them both.

The Bottom Line: The Stag Lord is solidly constructed read that is steeped in Celtic lore and legend. Any reader – familiar with Celtic lore and legend or not – will have no trouble with this read as Kaye takes, what is a very complicated mythology and makes it accessible to all. Bann and Cor’s story is filled with danger and intrigue and a lot of characters they never expected to be a part of their lives. The strength of the read is the characters though not those that you would expect. While I certainly like Bann and Cor it is Shay and her family that really bring the story to life. Shay proves that the Tuatha are more than just male warriors and I am hopeful that women like Shay will play a more prominent role in future installments of this series. Additionally, though this read certainly falls into the realm of adult, I would like to see the naughty bits become a bit more naughty and/or frequent though certainly not at the expense of the overall plot. Kaye has done a fine job of creating sexual tension and desire in her characters that is ultimately grounded in friendship and true affection. With that being said, there is no reason those two can’t have some seriously naughty moments. 🙂

At the end of the day, this book is a going to be a resounding success. Kaye is a conscientious writer who does her research well and has an eye for detail that enhances each and every book she writes. Her editing and revisions are always top notch which creates a very smooth and easy read for readers of all age levels.

Jenna and Preston’s story:  She’ll have to let go of the past in order to find a love that could last a lifetime.  All I wanted when I moved to Fairhope was to disappear. I wanted to become a ghost. A stranger to everyone who knew me before, including my parents. Especially my parents. I never expected to become someone. A friend. A faithful employee. A scholar. And least of all, a lover. Love is a word I never truly understood until I moved here and witnessed it with my own eyes. My own heart.  I always believed love was a fairy tale, and now that I’m starting to fall for Fairhope’s most eligible billionaire, Preston Wright, it all feels like some cruel joke. A dream I need to shake myself out of before it’s too late. Before I make the same mistakes my mother made and end up right back where I started.  I know I should stay as far away from him as possible, but fate keeps pulling us back together. I’ve never been so afraid of something in my life. And I’ve never wanted someone more.

While each book in the Fairhope series can be read as a stand-alone, some characters interactions and events will be more meaningful if you follow this series from the beginning.

My Review:

Jenna Lewis has spent the past three and half plus years doing everything she possibly can to get by. She works full time, she is finishing her college degree and, when she is able, she spends time with her friends. Since she left her hometown and family behind, Jenna has done everything within her power to forget her wretched past and move forward with her life. It will be a cold day in Hell before Jenna gets sucked back into her family’s drama and Hell will have actually frozen over before Jenna becomes like her mother.

Preston Wright is spoiled rotten and he knows it. He also hates it. As a member of the ultra-wealthy Wright family, Preston has never wanted for anything in his life. He has money, he has a built-in, waiting for him to get out of college job at the family firm and, he can have any woman he sets his sights on. Preston also has a mother who is consumed with her son marrying the right sort of girl, a father who is convinced only his son can follow in his footsteps and, he has a bevy of beauties lined up and wanting Preston for his money and the prestige his name will bring them. It will be a cold day in Hell before Preston marries a woman chosen by his mother and Hell will have actually frozen over before Preston gives up on the hope of having Jenna Lewis.

Jenna is always keenly aware of her economic status in relation to her friends. Though her friends couldn’t care less about Jenna’s bank account, everyone knows Jenna is barely scraping by. Her stubbornness and fierce determination to make her own way makes it hard for Jenna to be comfortable around men or comfortable making herself available to any man for more than a night or two. Heaven help the man who tries to “take care” of Jenna or buy her gift. Charity is a no-go since the larger the gift, the closer Jenna comes to becoming her mother.

Preston’s laser-focus on Jenna is not just uncomfortable but unsettling. For months he has slowly worked to get to know Jenna better even though she has given very little indication of her own interest in him. If only Preston knew . . . .Jenna certainly has an interest in Preston but her own stubbornness and intense desire to remain independent keeps her from acting on her own feelings. Jenna really doesn’t give a crap about Preston’s name and money; in fact, Jenna wants very much to get close to Preston without him spending lavish amounts on her. With a no-strings-attached deal in place, Jenna and Preston enjoy one another’s company both publically and privately but neither are prepared for the depth of their emotions. When push comes to shove and Jenna’s past comes crashing into her present, the fallout from her decisions leaves everyone reeling and her future looking very dark indeed.

The Bottom Line: I very much enjoyed The Fear of Letting Go in large part because of the strong characters and themes woven throughout the read. Jenna and Preston are both incredibly strong individuals who are both rebelling against what is expected of them. Jenna is desperate to make her own way and avoid any hint of her mother’s behavior and Preston is almost stupidly determined to avoid doing what is his parents expect from him. Surprisingly, these two incredibly strong people come together rather than clash and when the end rolls around, they discover their strength is not just something they have as individuals but something that is enhanced through their partnership. Aside from love, The Fear of Letting Go also touches on the themes of friendship and selflessness. This tight-knit group of friends don’t just like one another, they genuinely care about each other. There is such a strong bond between each of the characters and as the story progresses we see how each and every member of the group does whatever is necessary to support each other. In all, Sarra Cannon has produced another strong, emotional and, simply good read. It can certainly be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the other books in the series in order to enrich your reading of this title.

Melina TurnerHi I’m Mel aka Melina Turner, I’m an international award-winning poet and live in Australia in a little town called Gympie. I began my writing at an extremely young age starting in primary school in year 3 when I heard about Write4Fun, a school international writing competition. My first piece was called “Wild Brumbies” published in 2003 when I was in year 3. I soon after moved from Nambour to Gympie an hour away, where I was influenced by an amazing English teacher to continue writing. In 2005 when I was in year 5 I was awarded “honoured writer” for my poetry in which I continued and still do. In 2013 I was awarded, “Best Poet of 2012” and put into a poetry book that is now in the library of Congress.  After I began poetry I soon wanted to branch out thus starting “The Deathly-Roses Volume 1” a flash fiction narrative-prose piece, original and first of its kind, to be published 2014. I then gapped it out and wrote Volume 2 in 2007 to be published also in 2014; the third to be written in 2014 and published 2015. My goal with these books (TDR Volumes) was to make it short and poetic-like to gain non-readers interest and I believe I have done that.  As of 2012, I slowly branched out and started helping co-author for an independent film company called Timothy Mitchell Films, helping with scripts for movies.  As of now I am beginning to write my first finished novel ever. As of now I will be finishing my novels and aiming for traditional publishing.

This isn’t an ordinary gym.   Men workout with their eyes fixated on the ladies. Chicks from all over come to get a taste of me. I’m a fucking stallion in every way imaginable. I’m not blind; the way they move their hips, appear with faces full of make-up, and eyelashes flapping like wings when I walk around the gym – all for me.   Interested? Well, you’re in luck.   The Brand New You program is taking on recruits.  Pass orientation. That’s requirement number one.  I’m a man of all talents. I like it all: pussy eating, sex loving, hell, I’ll even give it to you around back.  There’s nothing I won’t do.  Graduate with flying colors.  I’m the one with the tools that ladies pay big bucks to use.  No second chances. No refunds. Period.

See you in class…

***Author’s note***
Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18. This is a standalone read. If you love a man with a filthy mouth and dirty sex, then this book is perfect for you.
