Happy Monday (she says with tons of sarcasm) and welcome to my stop on the AToMR Tours hosted tour for Paige Weaver’s Pomise Me Light, book two in the Promise Me series. Today, the author has stopped by to give us her take on Maddie Jackson, a link to the rest of the stops on the tour (right here) and, a link for the event-wide sweepstakes. Thanks for stopping by and have an excellent week 🙂
The epic conclusion of New York Times bestselling book “Promise Me Darkness”
“I’m darkness, Maddie. Stay away from men like me. You’ll only get hurt.”
At one time my life was simple. Easy. But that was before the war. Now I was no longer an average college student. I was a survivor. A woman living in a ravaged world. My future was not bright and my life was far from perfect. The war had taken so much from me… but it wasn’t finished yet. It wanted more.
It wanted my heart. My soul. The one person I couldn’t live without.
It wanted Ryder Delaney. My best friend. The bad boy. The one person who could fight like no other and love me like no one else. I watched him walk away one hot summer day and I prayed he would return. I needed him like I needed air to breathe and water to drink. Without him I was lost. A light without her darkness.
Until he returns, I’ll wait for him. And I believe he will return because love is powerful…
And so is the light calling him home.
Maddie Jackson is the typical good girl. She very rarely gets in trouble and when she does it usually can be blamed on her best friend, Eva. Maddie is reserved and soft spoken. She is petite with long, dark brown hair and dark eyes. She would rather blend into the background than be the center of attention. But behind the reserved exterior is a woman that is strong and resilient. We see that as the story unfolds.
Maddie is also not based on anyone I know particularly. Her personality and appearance are all from my imagination. Like other college students, she is enjoying life at college without parents but she is still the responsible and reliable one out of all her friends. She sees the good in everyone and is always willing to help out when needed. Some may see this as a fault but I see it as a strength. Maddie is dedicated to her friends and family, there for everyone through the toughest of times.
Ryder and her friend Eva are her weaknesses. She can’t resist either of them. Both are her best friends and she is unwilling to give up on their friendship even when they are so different from her. She puts others before she puts herself. For her, there is nothing as important as her family and friends.
As the story progresses, first in Promise Me Darkness and then in Promise Me Light, we see her mature and grow stronger due to her circumstances. The world may try to break her but with friends and love, she realizes she can survive anything.
Paige Weaver’s first passion has always been reading. Many hours were spent getting lost in love stories and adventures. That turned into a love for writing at a young age. She wrote her first book when she was a teenager and hasn’t stopped since. Thanks to pressure from family and friends, she finally decided to take the leap and self-publish. Her first book ‘Promise Me Darkness’ became a New York Times and USA Today Best Seller within a month after being released.
A native Texan who still resides in the town where she was born, Paige lives with her husband and two children. When she’s not writing or reading, you can find her chasing her kids around and living her very own happily ever-after story.
