Interesting Facts about the Peachville High Demons series By Sarra Cannon

 *  When I first started writing Beautiful Demons, the killer was someone completely different. When I got to the end, I gasped in surprise. I seriously had no idea who had killed Tori until the very end of the book.

*  I didn’t have the series planned out at all. Every time I finished one book, I would start thinking about the next. It’s really cool how some details, like the blue butterfly and Harper’s demon tattoo, came to mean something really special in the end.

* Demons Forever took me eleven months to write, but that book will always have a special place in my heart because it was the book I was writing when I had my son, Andrew.

*  The inspiration for this series actually came from a marathon session of watching the TV show, Veronica Mars. My original idea was to write a series about a young girl who solved murders and mysteries in her town using magic. If you’ve read the series, you know that’s not at all how the series really turned out!

*  One of the major themes in this series is TRUST. Just when Harper thinks she knows who she can trust, she finds out she’s been betrayed.

*  There are 6 parties/dances in the series and something terrible happens at every single one. I think Harper should just stay away from all parties in the future!

*  A second series based on this world will start in Spring 2014 and will be told from both Harper and Lea’s points-of-view.

Interesting Facts about the Fairhope series By Sarra Cannon

Fairhope Covers #2Fairhope Covers

 *  Fairhope is a fictional town in Georgia. In my mind, it’s kind of a cross between Savannah and St. Simons Island. Not too big, not too small.

*  The first book, The Trouble With Goodbye, is very loosely based on something that happened to me when I was twenty-three. Only, instead of a college administration, I was dealing with the U.S. Military.

*  Knox Warner is a woodworker and he’s very good with his hands.

*  When I was writing the first draft of The Moment We Began, I cried through the last quarter of the book. I didn’t know for sure how it was going to turn out until I’d written it!

*  The third full-length book in this series, The Fear of Letting Go, is about Jenna. Jenna has sixteen different tattoos, the first of which she got on her sixteenth birthday.

*  Each book in the Fairhope series is about a different couple, but as you read through the series, you’ll get to check in on your favorite characters and couples and see what they’re up to now. Even though book 3 is from Jenna’s point-of-view, you’ll still get updates about Leigh Anne’s trial and Penny’s baby!

*  In the Fairhope Christmas novella, A Season For Hope, I totally see Judd Kohler looking exactly like a younger Smith Jerrod from Sex and The City. Long, dark-blond hair. A gorgeous smile that lights up his whole face. I had a picture of him on my desktop the whole time I was writing the story!

* One of the most talked-about men from this series is Preston Wright, Penny’s gorgeous twin brother and the son of the richest man in Georgia. He’s a complex character. We know he cheated on his girlfriend in high school, which kind of makes him a jerk. But we also know that when Penny was hurt, he never left her side. If you keep reading, you’re going to find out a lot more about Preston very soon, including whether or not he finally gets his own happily-ever-after.

Releasing November 1st!

Forgiving your brother’s murderer may be noble, but falling in love with him borders on betrayal.

When Paige Zukowski enrolls at Granton University in honor of her dead brother, she has no idea fate will land her on the same campus with the very guy who killed him. But Logan Xander isn’t quite the murderer she’s always believed him to be.

A day hasn’t passed since the tragedy that Logan doesn’t wish he could go back and undo everything. It doesn’t take Paige long to realize he’s suffered as much as she has. Forgiving him for ruining her life might not be so impossible after all. But when she actually starts to like him and realizes he likes her in return, their true anguish begins.

Fun Facts about Fighting Fate by Linda Kage:

  • My family loves it when I put their names in books as cameo, or more important, roles.  So, for Fighting Fate, the names Kayla, Jamie, Samantha, Jerod, Bella, and Jake were taken from a couple of my nieces and nephews.
  • Fighting Fate is going to be book one in a trilogy. I’m currently working Tess’s story, which is book two.
  • I made my heroine Paige’s favorite food blueberry muffins because I was craving blueberry muffins while I was writing that scene!
  • Granton University, and its entire town, is fictional. But Gibson Hall in the story is an actual cafeteria at the university where I work. Ate there just this month! But I didn’t spot any hunky Logan Xanders anywhere. Not that I was checking out college guys. That would make me a total cougar.
  • I was spurred into writing Fighting Fate after reading a blurb for You Against Me by Jenny Downham. The two in that story had just as much reason as my hero and heroine to stay away from each other because of their families, but love ended up being stronger.

About the author and where to find her:

Title: Enter the Night
Series: Book #2: Casters Series
Author: Norah Wilson and Heather Doherty
Release Date: October 11, 2013
Age Group: YA/New Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Tour organized by: AToMR Tours;

In Comes the Night, Alex Robbins, Brooke Saunders and Maryanne Hemlock, three troubled seniors at Streep Academy, learned to escape their pain — escape their very bodies — by casting a dark piece of themselves out through the stained glass window high in the attic of their dorm, Harvell House.

Casting has been the salvation of each of the girls, but particularly for Maryanne. The wholesome good girl of the trio, Maryanne nevertheless harbors a secret — and a darkness — unrivaled by tattooed scenester Alex or beautiful badass Brooke. Casting provides Maryanne a desperately needed reprieve from her guilt and pain, but it’s become like a drug. And as with any drug, it only masks the real problems … and brings dangers of its own.

When Maryanne starts dating Bryce Walker, son of the notorious “Heller” hunter Ira Walker, is it first love, or is there a darker, more self-destructive impulse at play? As the superstitious citizens of Mansbridge begin to mutter and scan the night skies for Hellers, can the hunted lie down with the hunter and emerge unscathed?

Author Interview:

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

NORAH: Most writers seem to know this from an early age, but I guess I was a late bloomer. Always an avid reader, it didn’t occur to me to try to write a book of my own until I was almost 30 years old!

HEATHER: To be a writer has been my dream for as long as I could remember. I mean, it was always the hands-down answer to the ‘if you could be anything in the world’ question. Yet I never had the confidence to pursue a writing life. But when did I realize I actually could be a writer, is another matter all together. As I signed up for my first creative writing course through Athabasca University, I had visions (translation: nightmares) of the instructor emailing my assignments back, and telling me to apply for a course refund as quickly as possible. But that didn’t happen. In fact, quite the opposite happened. She told me my work was ‘publishable’ right from the second short story I submitted. In that moment ‘anything in the world’ became quite possible. That was all I needed. There was no turning back.

Do you have a routine that you use to get into the right frame of mind to write?

NORAH: I’ve found I can’t write at my desk anymore, as that has become the nerve center for our publishing business. I need to get away from my desk, open my laptop and sit down with a coffee or a hot tea. I do best at the café, actually, but can also work in my armchair or propped up in bed. And after squeezing the writing in after work for all those years, I still write best in the evenings.

HEATHER: My best ‘routine’ is when Norah and I hit one of our favorite coffee shops to write. We sit across from each other with our laptops (Battleship style) say ‘see you in an hour’ and put our  heads down and write. The energy. The atmosphere. The ticking clock! It all combines for a great writing experience. Best hour (or more) of my writing day.

Where do you get your ideas or inspiration for your characters?

NORAH: Honestly, when it comes to the joint YA writing, Heather is the inspiration behind everything. Her imagination is literally limitless! Mine, on the other hand, is rather stunted. LOL! In my solo writing, I’m much slower and more laborious. But I like to think my characters are extremely well developed by the time I finally push that story out. 🙂

HEATHER: They come to me—I channel them. It’s true. It’s not even that they unfold right before my eyes, so much as they are ‘there’ right before my eyes. I respect them in the process. I may manipulate details of their existence—looks, career, academic pursuits—but the characters are there all along, anxious to have their say . I can feel them, and feel for them. I once had a character who was a cutter. And I had no idea she was until about a third of the way through the book, when she actually did pull out the small knife. Blew me away, made me cry, but it made perfect sense for her within her story.

What books have most influenced your life?

NORAH: I grew up reading romance on the one hand and boy’s adventure stories on the other. When I discovered romantic suspense, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. My own writing has been influenced by such writers as Anne Stuart, Tami Hoag, Linda Howard, Suzanne Brockmann and more. I also went through a phase of devouring fantasy books (Terry Brooks, Stephen Donaldson). And when young adult came along as a genre, I fell in love with it too. I think I bring bits and pieces of all of that to the table no matter what I write.

HEATHER: Wow. That could depend on the day. And the project I’m working on. LOL. I love the writing of David Adams Richards as well as Stephen King. I enjoy literary and young adult paranormal, or horror. Some writing cast as ‘children’s lit’, has kept me up all night. There’s so much good writing out there, so many great authors. It’s hard to chose a book, or group of books, that stand out most as being influential to my writing life.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

NORAH: I love television! My biggest challenge these days is to find time to watch even a few shows. I am still mourning the fact that Breaking Bad is done, even though they nailed that ending perfectly. There are a couple of shows Heather and I make time to watch together, like American Horror Story and of course, Pretty Little Liars (we write PLL fan fiction in the Kindle Worlds publishing program). I also love animals (I have a dog and a cat), and turn into a grouch if I don’t get out with my dog for our nature walk every day.

HEATHER: I am a very spiritual person. I love working with candles, crystals and reading in the areas of spirituality, divination, the paranormal, spirits. I meditate when I can, hang out with my amazing family and Norah. I’m also employed part time at a fantastic library.

Any future writing news you would like to share?

NORAH:  We have some news we’d love to share, but can’t yet. (Oh, timing!) What we can share is that the third book in this series, EMBRACE THE NIGHT, will be out soon1 It’s currently in edits. We will rush it to market as quickly as we can, because ENTER THE NIGHT has kind of a wicked cliff hanger at the end and we don’t want to keep readers waiting for a resolution.

HEATHER: Stay tuned! I have a dark literary novel that I should have out in 2014. Also, I am chomping at the bit to start on the next Wilson Doherty YA paranormal. The characters won’t leave me alone. And their world is just so vivid in my mind.

About the authors and where to find them:

NORAH WILSON is a USA Today bestselling author of romantic suspense and paranormal romance. She lives in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, with her husband, two adult children, dog Chloe, and kitty Ruckus.

HEATHER DOHERTY fell in love with writing while taking creative writing courses with Athabasca University. Motivated by her university success, and a life-long dream of becoming a novelist, she later enrolled in the Humber School for Writers under the mentorship of David Adams Richards. Her first literary novel was published in 2006. While still writing dark literary (as well as not-so-dark children’s lit), she is beyond thrilled to be writing paranormal/horror with Norah. Heather lives in Fredericton, New Brunswick with her family. (No pets, but I swear Norah’s dog, Chloe, calls me Aunt Heather).

Together, Heather and Norah write dark, edgy, frightening young adult paranormal/horror.

Excerpt, Playlist and, Sweepstakes: Meant for Her by Raine Thomas

Title: Meant for Her
Author: Raine Thomas
Release: October 17, 2013
Published by Iambe Books, LLC

Photographer Sierra Stratton views the world through a lens all her own. She has an uncanny sense about people, something that often causes her trouble. When she meets the sexy and brooding Evan Dorsey, her intuition tells her he’s suffering, and she wants to be the one to help him.

Evan isn’t open to help from anyone, however. His focus is on his Major League career and making himself as marketable as possible for his upcoming free agency. He plans to ride out the season in Atlanta and then sign with another team, away from the painful memories that haunt him.

Someone’s eager to send him on his way, too. Between anonymous threats and equipment sabotage, it’s clear he’s earned himself an enemy along the way. To him, it’s one more sign that he’s right to move on.

But Sierra threatens his conviction. Her contagious smile proves hard to resist, as does her kiss. She tempts him in ways he never anticipated, making him question his plans for the first time. If he’s not careful, she might just convince him that he’s meant for her.

Excerpt from Meant for Her:

She saw one of the building’s employees, Oliver Werner, sitting behind the counter and crossed the lobby to greet him. He got to his feet, towering over her by more than a foot.

“Hi, Oliver.”

“Hi there, Ms. Sierra. Nice to see you.”

She winked at him. “This is Evan Dorsey. He’s checking out 4-B.”

“Is that right?” Oliver held out his hand and Evan shook it. “Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Dorsey. Can’t find a better place to live in this city, I assure you. We’ll take real good care of you here.”

“I like what I see so far,” Evan said.

Sierra wondered if it was a coincidence that his dark blue eyes shifted to her after he said that. In either case, her pulse quickened.

What harm could there be in fantasizing about a compliment from a hot ballplayer? It was healthy, really.

“Thanks, Oliver. We’ll be down in a bit.”

They headed to the elevator. She punched a code into the keypad to the right of the doors. As they closed, she looked at Evan to explain what she’d done. He was staring at her. She expected him to look away when she caught him.

He didn’t.

“When you’ve signed the lease, you’ll get your own code,” she said.

When I sign it?”

She smiled. He might not have made up his mind about moving in just yet, but she already knew how this was going to end.

“There are four apartments each on floors two and three,” she continued as though she hadn’t heard him, “and two larger apartments on four. Only the tenants on each floor can access their floor.”

“Unless they give the code out to everyone they know.”

“Sure. We do change the codes regularly to try and prevent issues, and ask tenants to let us know if there’s any reason they need their personal codes changed. As with most secure buildings shared by multiple tenants, nothing is guaranteed.”

The elevator stopped and the doors opened up into a long hallway with hardwood floors and a vibrant carpet runner. Two large windows along the left side of the hall allowed sunlight to flood in. A few framed black and white photographs of some of the more interesting architectural elements of the complex hung along the right wall. The door to 4-B was straight ahead at the end of the hallway. Halfway there, they passed the door to 4-A on the left.

“Who lives in that apartment?” Evan asked.

She paused as she reached the door to 4-B. “Aunt Caroline didn’t tell you?”

She turned and unlocked the door to 4-B. They walked in, neither of them mentioning that she hadn’t answered his question. She started talking as she moved from room to room, figuring he was listening even if he wasn’t following her.

“As you can see, this apartment has lots of character and natural light. It’s over seventeen hundred square feet and has two large bedrooms, two full baths. Separate laundry. The kitchen has been completely updated with granite and stainless steel. Natural hardwood floors throughout. Neutral paint on the walls, but you’re welcome to change it once you move in. There are two real brick walls and exposed ductwork to enhance the loft feel. It’s a very open floorplan with—”

She turned and almost collided with Evan’s chest. Apparently, he had been following her.

“You’re in 4-A, aren’t you?” he asked.

She smiled.

“I’ll take it,” he said.

Playlist for MEANT FOR HER by Raine Thomas

Meant for Her features Evan Dorsey, a professional baseball player who has recently lost the only person who really mattered to him. The pain caused by her death has left him with a lot of issues to face. “Demons” by Imagine Dragons fits his story perfectly. I particularly love this version of the video, since it’s dedicated to a man who lost his life to cancer…a topic in Meant for Her.

They say it’s what you make,
I say it’s up to fate.
It’s woven in my soul,
I need to let you go.

Your eyes, they shine so bright.
I wanna save that light.
I can’t escape this now
Unless you show me how.

When you feel my heat,
Look into my eyes.
It’s where my demons hide,
It’s where my demons hide.
Don’t get too close,
It’s dark inside.
It’s where my demons hide,
It’s where my demons hide.

The female protagonist, Sierra Stratton, has a unique view of the world. Her insights into other people often make Evan uneasy. It’s harder, however, for her to have strong insight about herself and how she handles conflict with others. Evan wants her to stand up for herself, so Sara Bareilles’ song, “Brave” speaks to me about this.

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out.
Honestly, I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say,
And let the words fall out.
Honestly I wanna see you be brave.

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave.

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave.

Sierra and Evan have a connection the moment they meet, but it takes time for Evan to accept it. He’s drawn to Sierra, despite his desire to avoid making connections and putting down roots in Atlanta. It isn’t long before Sierra has his head spinning. “Clarity” by Zedd is the song that reminds me of this element of the story.

Don’t speak as I try to leave, ’cause we both know what we’ll choose.
If you pull then I’ll push too deep and I’ll fall right back to you.

‘Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn’t need,
Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don’t know why.

If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love’s insanity, why are you my clarity?

After spending some time befriending Evan, Sierra gives their relationship a nudge to the next level. From that moment on, things are different between them. The song “Everything Has Changed” by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran reflects this development.

I just wanna know you better, know you better, know you better now.
I just wanna know you, know you, know you…

‘Cause all I know is we said, “Hello.”
And your eyes look like coming home.
All I know is a simple name.
Everything has changed.
All I know is you held the door.
You’ll be mine and I’ll be yours.
All I know since yesterday is everything has changed.

Evan’s demons come back to haunt him, making him have doubts when things progress with Sierra beyond where he envisioned. The choices he makes then propel the story into another light. “Stay” by Florida-Georgia Line captures the essence of Evan’s difficult choices.

My heart’s on my sleeve, but it’s turning black.
(I guess I know what it feels like to be alone).
Without your touch I’m not gonna last.
(I know you know that I need ya just to carry on)
It feels like my walls are caving in.
(You’d always hold me before I left you hanging on)
And I’ll do anything to have you here again.

The song that ultimately captures the relationship between Sierra and Evan is “I Need Your Love” by Ellie Goulding (featuring Calvin Harris). It even reflects the fact that they’re neighbors and pass each other’s doors. The lyrics speak for themselves!

I take a deep breath every time I pass your door.
I know you’re there but I can’t see you anymore.
And that’s the reason you’re in the dark.
I’ve been a stranger ever since we fell apart,
And I feel so helpless here.
Watch, my eyes are filled with fear.
Tell me do you feel the same?
Hold me in your arms again.

I need your love,
I need your time.
When everything’s wrong,
You make it right.
I feel so high,
I come alive.
I need to be free with you tonight.
I need your love.

From the Amazon bestselling author of No Reverse comes a moving story about love, redemption and what happens when life switches to fast forward.

Cassie learned the hard way: Love forgives… in the end.

In No Reverse, Josh and Cassie’s epic love story went from the brink of destruction to a fragile new beginning. Now they must mend their broken family and win back the son they gave up five years ago.

But second chances need to be earned and the road ahead is rocky. With Cassie on tour and Josh trying his hand at a political career, the struggle becomes clear. When the adoption takes a bad turn, Cassie and Josh are prepared to give up everything for the fight of their lives.

Will this young family finally heal the years of heartache, or will they be torn apart for good?

There is no cliffhanger.
